THE GOVERNOR'S STATEMENTS > 26/10/2007

Senior Management, Heads of Department, Mrs. Sitima and Mrs. Munyenyembe, Ladies and Gentlemen

It is with great honour that I wish to welcome you all to this important and memorable occasion as we bid farewell to our two colleagues, who are retiring today,   Mrs. Sitima and Mrs. Munyenyembe. Mrs Sitima and Mrs. Munyenyembe are today leaving the Bank at the age of 55 and after working for twenty three (23) years and eleven (11) years, respectively. In a period characterised by numerous challenges, we are all very happy to see you retire honourably after those distinguished periods. This is no mean achievement. I therefore call upon every one to join me in congratulating you for the achievements.

Mrs. Sitima joined the Bank on 01st May 1984 while Mrs. Munyenyembe joined on 1st October 1996. During their services in the Bank, they were instrumental in fostering discipline amongst new members of staff. Today, they are retiring as role models to all of us.

The above notwithstanding, we are aware that during your career in the Bank, you met some challenges and temptations. However, this did not discourage you from working hard and serve the Bank with honesty and utmost integrity. This underscores the reason why the Bank gave you the responsibility of working in the Currency office.

We also appreciate the support you received from your respective families as you were offering your services to the Bank. The pressure of work could sometimes force you sacrifice family affairs by working long and odd hours of the day. Despite that, the families were always supportive and understanding.

Despite being pensioners, please be reminded that you are still part of the Reserve Bank family. We therefore expect you to continue sharing your experiences and advice with us so that together, we can build a better Bank. As you go out there, it is our hope that your working lives in the Bank will no doubt be beneficial not only to yourselves but to the communities and society around you as well.

On behalf of Senior Management and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to wish you all the best and success in your future endeavours. As a token of appreciation, the Bank has prepared some retirement gifts and hope they will always remind you of your valuable time in the Bank.

I therefore wish you a peaceful and fruitful retirement period and may God bless you.

…………Thank you for your attention……………
